Launch price changes coming in 2025.
This is something I’ve gone back and forth on. After being away so long because of the pandemic, I wanted an easy entry point for readers. Every book in the second season of DSA has launched at $0.99. There’s been some success with it. As much as I would have liked? Never. But I wanted to make up for the long absence and show readers I’m not going anywhere ever again.
But after the Season Two finale? Yeah, launch prices probably won’t hit these levels again. I’ll probably stick with a $2.99 launch point for DSA and higher for a Greystone novel. Will I see a decrease in pre-orders? Most definitely. But I think it will be healthier for the series overall down the line. I hate to remove the easy entry point, so I’m sure there will be exceptions. There will always be the occasional sale to entice readers as well. You can count on those to happen.
I’d be curious to hear your thoughts on the subject. I see a lot of new ebooks coming out priced at $4.99 or even higher. The trend to go higher is certainly noticeable on the e-retailers, and I’m curious if you’ve noticed this as well and how it has changed your book reading/buying habits.
