Welcome back to the show that never stops. I’ve been plugging away this month (between birthday after birthday after birthday) so let’s get to the update, shall we?
Writing Update
Greystone
Book Eight launched earlier this month. You picked up your copy of Legends and Legacies, didn’t you? It’s incredible having the book out in the world. I hope everyone digs where the story is headed and all the revelations brought to light.
Book Nine is currently with my alpha readers. There’s been some great feedback on Secret of the Stone so far. I’m hoping to give the book another pass by the end of April to make sure everything is buttoned up (and then another pass in July because I’m a lunatic).
This month, though, has been all about Book Ten! Heart of Forever is the end for the series. I’m almost at the halfway point as you’re reading this, which is quite the feat since this book is massive. It truly is a celebration of everything that has come before it. Soriya and Loren are going out with a bang, I promise.
If I can keep my head down and see this thing through to the finish line, the draft should be set by April 15th. Then the real fun begins. I already have a list of edits to implement, some fleshing out of the character arcs and more table dressing to add for the next go-around. My hope is to be done by the end of June. That’s my hope. There will still be plenty to do, but that will open things up for a couple fun projects in the summer.
Summer Projects
Speaking of the summer, I’ve been vacillating between a few ideas. There’s the next pair of Coventry Christmas tales I want to put together to make sure I’m set for the 12 Days of Coventry in December. Beyond that, I have two old, old, old, OLD, drafts I might dig out of mothballs to freshen up.
The first is a space-horror novel I wrote in 2017 with a very Alien-vibe to it. I drafted the book during NaNoWriMo, while also packing up my entire house for a move. Let’s just say the book needs work. The bones are there and I love the story, but yeah… it’s a mess.
The second, and the one I’m more likely to tackle, is a first-person narrative called Hench. I wrote this one back in 2014 over the course of seven months. No plan in place. No plotting this one out ahead of time. I took it and ran, piece by piece. It was a lot of fun to come up with, but I haven’t looked at it in ages. Should be fun to work on. Or torture. (Probably torture.)
Wait, Lou. What about DSA? Don’t worry, friends, I haven’t forgotten. This fall is all about the DSA. Season Three will be drafted by the end of the year with a launch date of late 2027. These other two books are meant specifically for the Patreon page, to offer fresh and free content to readers, as well as a standalone novel to have at my table for in-person events. My plan is to have one standalone project per year for variety-sake.
We’ll see how it goes.
