Well, that was a year…
It’s funny to think about how quickly 2025 blitzed by. I had massive plans for the past year. The end of Greystone. New audiobooks. A robust release schedule for the future with DSA Season Three and Coventry and so many other cool things.
That didn’t quite work out.
This year was a challenge unlike any other. I finally (FINALLY) have some extra time to write and was met with obstacle after obstacle after obstacle. Rough doesn’t even begin to describe things. Family has been a big one. I’m a dad first, but damn is it difficult to pause my creative endeavors for the endless parade of illnesses that have come and gone over the last few months. Guilt plays a huge role in my limited output this year. I feel like I’m missing time with people—friends, the kids, my wife. So many people pull at me, and I’ve struggled to find a good balance with things.
A Lesson Learned
Life is one giant lesson, isn’t it? This year has been one, for sure.
I haven’t given up. I’ve come pretty freaking close, but have yet to throw in the towel.
Next year needs to be huge. I’m doubling down on productivity. Greystone 9 is my entire January. Top to bottom, this edit has to get done. The final book is right after that. I’ve been dreaming about the end of the story lately. So many thoughts about how Soriya and Loren face their ultimate destiny. I can’t wait for you to see the entire scope of Greystone. Ten years of labor. It means so much to me to have reached this point.
The Good
In-person events and conventions can be intense, but I always walk away with a great experience. Whether it’s by connecting with my neighbors, other writers, or the best readers on the planet, each one has been a good time overall.
Coventry has been a highlight for me this year. Writing the new Christmas adventures was a treat. Developing new stories has always been a passion of mine, so seeing these come together and what they will eventually flow into with the main series has been a dream come true.
I really hope you check Coventry out. It’s fun, and we all need a little fun in our lives, don’t we?
2026
I have a plan written down. It’s just a matter of getting it done. I’m excited. Nervous, sure, but excited all the same. Greystone ends. DSA kicks into high gear. Coventry continues for the holidays. Maybe more? Maybe something completely different?
We’ll see.
